if i had a billion dollars

Everyone has an idea of what they would want their dream house to look like and I thought it would be fun to actually plan mine out.  And since I am always daydreaming of it, why not put it all on paper?  So here is my house if money was never an object and I could just do as I pleased.  Now, unless I win the lottery this is probably not a reality, which would be pretty difficult since I don't play the lottery...and I don't have any multi-million dollar inheritances headed my way either so this one is just for play.  But a girl can dream, right?

I love colonial homes but the more I think about it I really think my dream home would be a spanish style home.  They are just so rich and timeless looking and look great with bright colors throughout.  I realize that not all of the rooms are consistent with the style of the house and may not go together realistically but this is after all a dream, remember?

on my radar...

Here's just a few lovely things I've spotted this week online that I wanted to share with you.

First:

Oh Joy has paired with BHLDN for a great giveaway (enter giveaway here)!  BHLDN is the wedding line owned by the same company as Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters.  I really wish they had been around when I got married, while I couldn't afford anything they sell most of their stuff would be very easy diy projects.

To enter, visit BHLDN and create a custom mood board that reflects your perfect summer party {which can include both clothing and decor}, then leave a comment on the Oh Joy blog site with the link to your mood board! Entries must be posted by this Friday, July 22nd at 9am PST

The giveaway is almost over so hurry and enter!  It's so fun to make who cares if you win!  Here is mine:

The winner will be able to pick one pair of shoes and a dress from these four items.  I LOVE those blue shoes:

And on a totally different subject, check out these lovely bracelets, spotted via coco + kelley:

They range from $99-500.  So pricey but so beautiful!

take a seat, or two

I feel like I've been up to a lot lately and thought I would have a lot to sit down and blog about but nothing seems that interesting all of a sudden.  But since one of my only outings this weekend was to run into an estate sale I figured that seemed like a good topic of conversation.  Let me begin by saying that having two children so close together was not something we planned, and while I was pregnant all that I had really heard people say (probably to just make me feel better) was that going from one child to two was not that big of a difference, and I believed them.  Let me just be honest and say, that to me, it seems like night and day.  It's not so much being at home that's a struggle, but going in public with a toddler and an infant makes me feel like one of those circus elephants trying to balance on a ball (yes, I just compared myself to an elephant).  I am not that person that can just let their children run wild in public and ignore them, in fact, I think those mothers need lessons from Emily Post.

It just usually is not worth it in my eyes to take them shopping so unless it's something we absolutely cannot live without I just add it to my list and go on without it.  Thrift shopping, to me, would be worth the torture to take them both with me just so I could look at all of the wonderful cheap treasures but it's just not possible.  Most places, such as flea markets and estate sales do not have room for me to wheel around a two seated stroller.  I always said I would never, ever do it but every day a toddler leash makes more and more sense to me.  I am learning to never judge a decision about parenting that seemed crazy to you when you didn't have children until you have experienced it all yourself.  So I am beginning to think a toddler leash and a baby sling may be my answer to my current little dilemma no matter how crazy it may make me look.

All of this rambling to say there were some furniture pieces that I really wanted to check out at an estate sale this weekend, but by the time I convinced my sister to sit in the car with my children while I ran in to check it out (I did mention I'm desperate right?!) everything I was after was gone.  Especially these chairs, if I could have gotten my hands on these mid-century beauties I would have loved to put them in a setting like this...

(please forgive me this is the only picture of the chairs I had,
I had to take it off of the estate sale companies website)

I think this living room (via apartment therapy) really fits my realistic home style only I would trade these black chairs out for the above chairs in a heartbeat.

Off to do more window shopping...

Sorry for my absence lately.  My computer received a death sentence and so I have been without one for a little while.  Finally got a new one today but need sleep.  I promise to write soon!

momma needs a new bag!

I am in serious need of a new handbag!  The one I carry now I really like because the leather is so worn and "loved" and it has a little significance to it but lets face it, I have worn it out!  The last few years there have just been more important things we've needed with the girls, and it really hasn't made sense to get a new one when I'm always throwing my stuff in a diaper bag.  In my search I thought I would share a few beautiful bags I've seen.  Most of these purses are a dream, I would be terrified to own one of these right now or have it lay in my house where something could get spilled on it, poured into it, or whatever else my munchkins could do to destroy it.

In my day I have put down some serious cash on a handbag, I've always thought a great handbag and a great pair of jeans are something you should invest in and will definately get your moneys worth if you love them.  Most of these handbags though are even more than I would have spent on a purse before I had kids, but a girl can always dream!

All of these bags are timeless and if you do have the money to spend on one I think all of these bags would be well worth the money!
